About the Event

LOCATION:  Papermill Park, Shrewsbury (full details and directions will be given when your booking is confirmed)

DATE:  Sunday 20th September 2026

TIME:  Two sessions available - (10-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm)

FEE:  £30 for members and £40 for non members

APPLICATIONS CLOSE:  10 days prior to the event date


EVENT: 

Your host will be club member Tony Scragg, who has kindly offered to deliver and share his experiences (and mistakes) of the working world of Griffs. Tony has owned, trained and worked numerous Korthals Griffons over the years and has a comprehensive understanding of the breed. Successful in working tests, Tony can also be seen each year out on shoots with his dogs during the shooting season where he and his dogs thrive.


DETAILS OF THE DAY (4 spaces available per session)


10am to 12.30pm - Junior/Beginner Novice Level: Dogs to be steady on or off lead and recall. Tony will cover understanding your Griff, basic handling skills, recall, directions, land and water retrieving and the stop. There will be a Q&A session at the end.


1.30pm to 4pm - Novice/Advanced Level: Dogs to be steady off lead and recall. Tony will cover understanding your Griff, handling skills, recall, directions, land and water retrieving and the stop. There will be a Q&A session at the end.


Details of what to bring and the location of the day will be sent through to you once your booking is confirmed.

In the case of over subscription priority will be given to members of the Korthals Griffon Club GB then non members with a Korthals Griffon and then to HPRs.


  • Upon notification of acceptance to the event, you will be asked to pay the fee by bank transfer (details will be given at the time).

  • If oversubscribed there will be a reserved list held.

  • If anyone has to cancel at short notice for a genuine reason, we will endeavour to fill your place from the reserve list.  If we can't fill your place at short notice,  then the training fee will be forfeit.


PLEASE NOTE

  • Bitches in season will not be allowed on the ground

  • Neither the Korthals Griffon Club or the hosts of this event will accept any liability for any accident, damage, illness or injury to dogs, owners, handlers and spectators or any other person or property whatsoever.

A Royal Kennel Club Recognised Breed Club for Korthals Griffons in the UK. The Korthals Griffon is currently on the Royal Kennel Club Imported Breed Register.

However from 1st January 2027 the breed will move to the Royal Kennel Club's Breed Register.
