About the Event

LOCATION:  Thetford Forest Area - Norfolk/Suffolk Border (full details and directions will be given when your booking is confirmed)

DATE:  Saturday 29th March 2025

TIME:  9am to 4pm (please arrive in plenty of time)

TRAINER:  Deer Tracking Services

TRAINING FEE:  £80 for members and £100 for non members

APPLICATIONS CLOSE:  10 days prior to the training date, however spaces booked will be taken on a first come, first served basis.


TRAINING: 

The team at Deer Tracking Services are the UK's leaders in providing specialist training to deer stalkers,and those who wish to have a go with their dogs to track wounded deer. No matter whether you are a complete novice or more experienced, the training is tailored to your experience and your own requirements.


Training days take place within some 18,000 acres of stunning forestry with special permission from Forestry England (East of England). Having this amount of ground at their disposal helps ensure that they can offer a wide variety of habitat and terrain to cater for you and your dogs abilities.


DETAILS OF THE TRAINING DAY: 

This day is an introduction into how to train yourself and your dog to track wounded deer. Set outside in a wonderful forest environment, each candidate will discover the equipment required and the methods used to start training their dog, such as training puppy/novice to follow scent trail, laying a scent trail, practical demonstration on blood tracking, tracking equipment, clothing required to name but a few.


Maximum number of candidates is limited to ten with one dog each.

In the case of over subscription priority will be given to members of the Korthals Griffon Club GB then non members with a Korthals Griffon and then to HPRs.


Upon notification of acceptance to the training day, you will be asked to pay the fee by bank transfer (details will be given at the time).

  • If oversubscribed there will be a reserved list held.

  • If anyone has to cancel at short notice for a genuine reason, we will endeavour to fill your place from the reserve list.  If we can't fill your place at short notice,  then the training fee will be forfeit.


PLEASE NOTE

  • Bitches in season will not be allowed on the ground

  • Neither the Korthals Griffon Club or the hosts of this training will accept any liability for any accident, damage, illness or injury to dogs, owners, handlers and spectators or any other person or property whatsoever.

However from 1st January 2027 the breed will move to the Royal Kennel Club's Breed Register.
